Il Casello Country House B&B is situated on a hillside overlooking the Vignamaggio valley, birthplace of the Mona Lisa, in the splendid Tuscan countryside halfway between the cities of Florence and Siena and 3km from Greve in Chianti, and 1.5km from the village of Panzano.
The bus stop for Florence is less than 5 minutes walk away along the SR222 "Chiantigiana" wine road, thus an ideal base for exploring the beautiful Tuscan countryside even without a hire car.
Il Casello Country House B&B offers accommodation for a total of 26 people in bed and breakfast rooms in the main farmhouse as well as “casa vacanza” apartments in the old hayloft across the stone flagged courtyard. The structure is fully air-conditioned throughout.
The farmhouses were restored several years ago, carefully maintaining their traditional architectural features such as the hand-made terracotta floors, the brick vaults and arches and the chestnut-wood roof beams.
ACCOMMODATION
The 11 double bedrooms all have double-glazing, sound-proof doors, air-conditioning and heating.
They are tastefully furnished with antiques and equipped with satellite television, VCR, mini refrigerator and telephone and afford views over the fabulous Chianti countryside.
The en-suite bathrooms have showers and a hairdryer and are decorated with hand-painted tiles.
On the first floor of the main building there is a large, comfortable sitting-room for the guests with a magnificent old fireplace.
The old hay loft now houses three apartments, accommodating up to 4 people each. The apartments consist of one double bedroom, living room with double sofa bed, an open fire place, well-equipped kitchen, satellite TV with VCR, air conditioning, heating. The bathrooms are decorated with hand-painted tiles and have hydromassage tub, shower and hairdryer.
Outside each apartment is a terrace area with tables and chairs for dining ‘al fresco’.
The staff in the reception area are on hand throughout the day and evening and are happy to give local tourist information, suggestions for walks around the area, arrange museum or restaurant reservations and serve drinks upon request.
• A double room with private bathroom costs 100/110 Euro per night, breakfast included. • An extra bed in a room costs 20 Euro per night. For children under 12 years of age there is no charge for an extra bed, just an additional 8 Euro for breakfast. • An apartment with double bedroom, living room with double sofa bed, kitchen and bathroom costs 130/140 Euro per night. • Breakfast is not included in the cost of the apartment.
We offer a reduction of 15% on stays of 7 nights or more in an apartment.
OTHER INFORMATION
The buildings are surrounded by wonderful gardens with panoramic terraces where guests can relax and enjoy their evening glass of Chianti.
The 14 x 7mt. pool and sunbathing area at the lower end of the gardens offer splendid views over the valley. There are also a ping-pong table and a children’s play area at the disposal of our guests.
Il Casello’s farmland extends over 7 hectares of vineyards, olive groves and woods where the guests are free to wander if they wish to have a change from relaxing on the terraces under the sun or the stars.
The buffet breakfast which is included in the cost of the B&B rooms is prepared in the main dining room but guests are welcome to take breakfast out on the terrace during the hotter season.
Evening meals can be prepared upon request and this too is served out on the main terrace by candle light during the warm summer months.
For cellar visits and wine tastings our neighbouring winery is just a five minute stroll away through the vines and a little further on other neighbours offer excursions on horse back.
